Sidney E. Rains, 84, whose plastics career spanned more than 60 years, died Feb. 24, 2023.
Rains was born in Williamsburg, Ky., and graduated from high school in Akron, Ohio. He attended the University of Akron while serving an apprenticeship with B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber before moving into the plastics industry, according to his obituary.
He was VP of sales and marketing for injection molding machine manufacturer Van Dorn Demag from 1977 to 1998, and served in leadership positions with the Society of the Plastics Industry.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Cynthia (Hull) Rains; children, Scott (Cindi) Rains, Michele (Steve) Snowball, Dana (Howard) Tieche; and eight grandchildren.
