Jan. 20, 2023
The machines, from Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, offer high speed, energy savings, efficiency and improved cleanliness for manufacturers of packaging solutions.

El-Exis SP Available in sizes ranging from 169 tons of clamping force to 1,124 tons, this Sumitomo (SHI) Demag series of ultra-high-speed hybrid injection molding machines is ideal for producing packaging and other thin-walled products. The machines feature an energy-efficient electric screw drive for maximum plasticizing capacity and melt homogeneity, and a clamping unit with AC servo drive and hydrostatic transmission for quickly opening and closing the mold.

What’s new? A version called the El-Exis SP Servo, featuring a new, more energy-efficient servo pump and fully closed toggle lever. At the K Show, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag showed the first model in the range — an El-Exis SP 420 — as part of work cells that produced butter and margarine containers in 6-second cycles. Initially, Sumitomo will offer the El-Exis SP Servo series in the medium clamping force range, from 250 tons to 420 tons. Larger clamp force machines will follow.

Benefits High speed, energy savings, efficiency and improved cleanliness for manufacturers of packaging.
