At K 2022, KraussMaffei will introduce for the European and North American markets two IMMs that debuted in Asia and are now well-established there.
The powerMolding is a counterpart of KraussMaffei's hydraulic GX series that debuted in 2021, while the precisionMolding is a basic version of its all-electric PX series machine with a reduced number of options that debuted in 2019. KraussMaffei said both machines are ideal for standard applications such as producing technical parts, electric and electronic devices, and parts for the automotive, packaging and medical industries.
The company will use a powerMolding 1300-11900 with 1,461 tons of clamping force to produce door modules for the automotive industry from 100 percent recycled PP.
In an example of how the circular economy can work, the company said the recycled material used on the powerMolding IMM is sourced from caps for insulin pens produced on the floor at the K Show on a KraussMaffei PX 200-1400. The material is then shredded and run through a ZE 28 BluePower twin-screw extruder with additives such as bonding agents and liquid dye to prepare it for use in the powerMolding. An integrated linear robot of the LRX series takes over safe and reliable handling of the components.
In its K Show production cell, the powerMolding IMM is equipped with the APCplus machine function, which ensures consistent component quality by compensating for batch fluctuations, which are common when processing recyclates. APCplus is an option available for all KraussMaffei injection molding machines.
KraussMaffei’s powerMolding IMMs offer short dry-cycle times, high shot weight consistency and low scrap rates. They also employ KraussMaffei’s BluePower servo drive in standard models. This feature optimizes pump-energy usage – matching consumption to requirements.
The company said these features can boost throughput as much as 15 percent, and provide 40 percent higher energy efficiency, over comparable standard IMMs.
KraussMaffei said both its powerMolding and precisionMolding machines can be configured with a selected range of options such as the integration of automation solutions. Users can also select mold installation height.
The company said both machines offer an outstanding price/performance ratio, providing a great ROI. They are available with short delivery times.
KraussMaffei will host its displays in Hall 15, Booth C15/C24-D24.
