Rapid Machine Operator Rapid Robotics’ line of cobots is able to tackle common automation tasks within hours without the need for systems integrators or complex programming interventions. Once the required fixtures, grippers and cameras are in place, the Rapid Machine Operator (RMO) can quickly handle common machine-tending tasks, including pick-and-place, parts inspection and gate cutting. The subscription price for an RMO is $2,100 per month.
What’s new? Smart Setup. This software update allows users with high-mix requirements to quickly change between tasks. With Rapid Robotics’ tablet-based app, users select a task type, then direct the RMO’s cameras to analyze the workspace. The RMO calculates the fastest and most precise paths to execute the task, and then with another tap, the user starts the RMO on its new job.
Benefits Quick job changes. Smart Setup allows users to switch from one task to another in as little as 60 seconds. Smart Setup also lets anyone reset an RMO and get back to work in minutes. This avoids stoppages that can come from changes or disruptions to the work environment, especially by other robots that require trained specialists to perform a reset. The Smart Setup update can be rolled out as needed by users.
