SunChill color masterbatches decrease the thermal load of dark plastic items that are commonly exposed to sunlight and hot weather.

SunChill Ampacet has designed its SunChill line of color masterbatches to decrease the thermal load of dark plastic items that are commonly exposed to sunlight and hot weather. Dark-colored plastics can heat up in the sun because dark pigments absorb most of the infrared wavelengths and convert them into heat energy. The masterbatches are appropriate for products such as floor tiles and construction products.

What’s new? The SunChill product line. The company said plastics incorporating the color masterbatches exhibit much lower infrared wavelength absorption and heat buildup compared to conventional colorants.

Benefits Plastic products for outdoor use, such as chairs and decking, that are cooler and more comfortable to the touch.
