Troubleshooting software enhances Boy presses
Injection molding machines The injection molding machines in Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG’s stable range from micro molding models to presses with clamping forces as great as 137.5 tons. The line features both horizontal and vertical models that are suitable for a wide variety of applications, including insert molding.
What’s new? Moulding Assist software, which is used to identify and eliminate defects, such as streaks, dimensional deviations, inclusions and damage to the part. The digital assistant provides users with constructive, step-by-step solutions directly at the injection molding machine. Users can access the machine manual via the web browser and use an app that provides cooling time and clamping force calculations, as well as tables with processing data for various resins. The software works on any Boy machine with the Alpha 4 controller, which is now standard across the company’s product line. The cost to license the software is $4,500, regardless of how many presses are involved; the required hardware cost is $1,600 per machine.
