W9 series Linear robots in Wittmann’s W9 series for injection molding applications are available with fixed or moving demolding axes. The robots are characterized by reliability and flexibility.
What’s new? A combined A-C servo axis for the smaller robots in the line, encompassing models W918 through W922. Previously, the A-C servo axis option was only available for larger robots designed to service injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 441 tons to 1,433 tons. The new combined axis weighs about 8.8 pounds and can accommodate grippers that weigh up to 22 pounds. A typical task for the A-C servo action is applying labels. Wittmann says that the new servo axis is retrofittable to existing robots and doesn’t require modification of the robot’s control cabinet; retrofits only require the extension of the cabling for the vertical axis.
Benefits Enhanced flexibility. Additionally, the new servo axis is very compact, needing no more than 15mm of additional space in the demolding direction. Upgrading existing robots with the combined A-C servo axis is simple and economical.
