Euromap announces update of its standard

Successor to Euromap 67 will better coordinate interactions between injection molding machines and robots.

The Joint Working Group of Euromap and the OPC Foundation have published the draft of the new OPC 40079 specification, which offers a standardized data exchange between IMMs and robots and will succeed the current Euromap 67 standard.

The draft offers a shift to a software-based interface based on OPC-UA communication protocols, which will allow it to work with more complex molds and provide functions such as simple operator login and real-time communication to better coordinate the movement of both machine and robot, avoiding collisions and speeding up cycle times.

The working group is led by Dr. Harald Weber from VDMA Plastics and Rubber Machinery.
