Dolphin AGV DTA, a Spanish company that builds vehicles and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) for a variety of industries, introduced the Dolphin line of AGVs, with models that can carry loads from 1,323 pounds to 331 tons. The line relies on BlueBotics’ Autonomous Navigation Technology (ANT) system, which uses laser scanners to locate its position in relation to natural features within a facility, or reflectors, or both. When it encounters an obstacle, the ANT system autonomously adjusts the AGV’s speed to avoid a collision, or plots a path around the obstacle.

What’s new? The Dolphin line of AGVs.

Benefits Flexibility, ease of setup and accuracy. The company said its entire line can be customized to meet its customers’ needs, and that a single Dolphin can handle work equivalent to that of two forklifts run by six operators over a 24-hour period, saving users a substantial amount of money. Also, the ANT system doesn’t require infrastructure modifications such as the addition of inductive wires or magnets to guide AGVs. And the ANT system offers positional accuracy of plus or minus about 0.4 inch using data from laser scanners and industrial encoders.
