e-speed Engel’s e-speed series of injection molding machines is designed for energy-efficient production of packaging. The presses come in models with up to 730 tons of clamping force and feature a hybrid injection unit and electric clamping unit. They have very fast injection speeds of up to 1,200mm per second. Their energy-recovery system absorbs braking energy from the platen movements and returns it to the motor. Additionally, the toggle lever is encapsulated to ensure low oil consumption and to maximize cleanliness.
What’s new? The e-speed 420, a model with 472 tons of clamping force. The machine is set to make its world debut this month at Fakuma, where it will combine compression molding and stack mold technologies to create PP margarine tubs with a wall thickness of 0.4mm. The electrically driven clamping unit and the toggle lever’s design allow for very fast, short compression strokes.
Benefits Precision, energy efficiency and high-quality thin-wall packaging. Engel’s strategy of closely tailoring the machine to a specific application maximizes the e-speed 420’s efficiency. Additionally, injection compression molding technology requires lower clamping forces and injection pressures compared to conventional injection molding and allows repeatable processing of high-viscosity resins.
