Mouse and Mole AGCs These automated guided carts (AGCs) from Toyota follow a magnetic tape course laid on the floor of a facility. Each consists of a low-profile vehicle that drives under specially designed carts to connect to and tow them. There are five models of the Mouse AGC, some of which can travel in reverse, with maximum loads ranging from 2,204 pounds to 4,409 pounds. There is one model of the Mole, which has a shorter body than the Mouse, a tighter turn radius and a maximum load of 880 pounds. Each AGC can be programmed directly via its onboard touch-screen display and comes with an RFID scanner to recognize location markers on the floor, as well as a laser scanner that allows it to slow or stop when an obstacle is detected.
What’s new? The Mouse and Mole, which expand Toyota’s line of automated guided vehicles.
Benefits Manufacturer support. As part of the purchase price, trained experts from Toyota work with customers — including performing a site survey — to tailor the AGCs’ paths to match the facility’s needs, including siting load/unload stations and planning material flow needs. Toyota offers its 360 Support program, which guarantees a four-hour emergency response time, and a two-year parts warranty. The free programming software requires no ongoing subscription fees.
