Rugged Flir thermal cameras ideal for condition monitoring
A50 and A70 Flir’s latest thermal cameras come in three versions: Smart, Image Streaming and R&D to fit the needs of a variety of industries, including manufacturing. The rugged cameras have an IP66 rating for protection against dust, oil and water and are appropriate for equipment condition monitoring.
What’s new? The cameras, which have higher resolutions compared to previous versions; the A50 has a thermal resolution of 464 by 348 and the A70 has a thermal resolution of 640 by 480. The Smart version of the cameras introduces “on camera/on edge” functionality, which means that temperature measurement and analysis can be done on the camera, without the need for a PC. The Image Streaming version of the camera plugs into a PC and offers fast throughput times. This version complements machine vision systems that look at defects such as size, with the A50 or A70 providing information on temperature variances. The R&D version of the cameras is appropriate for materials and academic research. New software capabilities allow dual functionality — thermal temperature monitoring and visual inspection — within the same camera.
Benefits Efficient data analysis and temperature measurement accuracy of plus or minus 2 percent. The enhanced accuracy means that the cameras provide consistent readings over time and despite varying environmental factors, which eliminates guesswork from data analysis. When used for condition monitoring, the compact devices can reduce inspection times, maximize uptime and minimize costs by enabling planned maintenance. Additionally, the cameras are easy to mount inside of machinery in tight spaces.
