Engel announced that in cooperation with Plastic Bank, a Vancouver-based environmental organization, it financed the collection of 120 tons of plastic waste in Indonesia.

In developing countries where plastic waste is routinely disposed of at sea, Plastic Bank helps to establish plastic recycling chains, paying private collectors for plastic waste, processing it into pellets and selling those to manufacturers. The organization said these efforts help address multiple challenges, by reducing waste, promoting recycling and helping fight poverty among the local population.

"As a member of the plastics industry, we bear a great responsibility for establishing a circular economy for plastics. This is why we are strongly committed to this goal," said Stefan Engleder, CEO of the Engel Group.

Headquartered in Schwertberg, Austria, Engel manufactures plastics processing machines and automation systems.
