CA18CA and CA30CA Featuring integrated IO-link communication, Carlo Gavazzi’s new series of capacitive proximity sensors can be used by processors to perform a variety of tasks, including checking the fill level of plastic pellets, identifying a material being fed into a process or detecting the presence or absence of either raw materials or finished products.

What’s new? The sensors, which Carlo Gavazzi has been offering for a few months. Compared with older sensors, the CA18CA and CA30CA series offer an array of new capabilities: They have timers and alarms, as well as the ability to log condition, such as temperature, operating hours and power cycles. Users also can reprogram the sensors’ sensing distance.

Benefits Improved quality control and cost savings. When used to check fill levels, two sensors can be employed in lieu of a PLC, saving money. Also, the sensors can help plants prevent waste by alerting operators before the wrong material is fed into a machine or process.
