The commercial technology that first brought down barriers between humans and robots is marking its aluminum anniversary year.
First launched in December 2008, the UR5 collaborative robot, or cobot, from Universal Robots, Odense, Denmark, is now sold worldwide. According to the Robotic Industries Association, cobots make up the fastest-growing segment of industrial automation and are expected to account for 34 percent of all industrial robot sales by 2025.
