Software updated for Engel's viper robot line

Engel's viper linear robots can be integrated with Engel's injection molding machines or used as stand-alone units with competitors' machines.

viper Engel's viper linear robots can be integrated with Engel's injection molding machines or used as stand-alone units with competitors' machines. They come in several sizes, with maximum load capacities ranging from 13.2 pounds to 264.6 pounds and demolding strokes ranging from 1.3 feet to 9.8 feet.

What's new? The latest version of Engel's multidynamic  software. The previous release of multidynamic optimized the speed of the linear axis as a function of the load; the new version also controls the speed of the servomotor-driven rotary axes as a function of the load. Presented for the first time at Fakuma in October, the software will be standard on all sizes of viper robots. Delivery of robots with the new software will begin in April.

Benefits Faster cycle times. When loads are lighter and strokes shorter, Viper robots move faster, shortening cycle times, potentially by as much as 30 percent in operations involving rotation-intensive movements. Using the software also improves the robot's precision and energy efficiency and can extend the service life of the robot's mechanical components. Additionally, production startups are faster because the operator does not need to manually optimize the robot's speed.
