Air compressors gain enhanced motor design

Kaeser Compressors' SFC-series air compressors for industrial applications feature variable-frequency drives (VFDs).

SFC Kaeser Compressors' SFC-series air compressors for industrial applications feature variable-frequency drives (VFDs). They precisely control system pressure to eliminate overpressurization and save energy. SFC units achieve full-load operation without electrical current spikes or excessive heat rise.

What's new? The motor. Compressors using 30-horsepower (hp) and 40-hp motors now have a new synchronous reluctance motor designed in partnership with Siemens to work with the Siemens drive technology used in the compressors. A new rotor design allows the motors to run at higher speeds without additional rotor warming.

Benefits Efficiency during partial-load operation. Also, because of the new rotor design, bearing life is increased and maintenance costs are reduced.
