Nakata USA will show its new ITRO NTS in-line surface- treatment unit that improves the adhesion of paint, ink and adhesives to parts made of materials such as PP, PVC, TPU, TPO, PE, metals, glass and silicone.

ITRO NTS Nakata USA will show its new in-line surface- treatment unit that improves the adhesion of paint, ink and adhesives to parts made of materials such as PP, PVC, TPU, TPO, PE, metals, glass and silicone. The treatment makes it possible to use water-based paint and ink with no primer. Nakata calls its process a "nano-coat technology." The ITRO NTS unit controls the mixture of propane, air and a silicone compound, which is then heated with a 1,832-degree-Fahrenheit flame and leaves a vapor deposit on the surface of the part it is treating. The unit requires connection to an air compressor and a source of propane. One application is in the automotive industry, where it is used to bond hard plastic to urethane, and to treat bumpers before painting.

What's new? The in-line unit, which allows for higher-volume production than a previous hand-held version.

Benefits Mass-production capability. The ITRO NTS unit can be adapted to users' needs. Customers can use a sliding table to pass smaller parts under the flame unit, or attach the flame unit to a robot arm to treat larger parts. Removing the need for primer results in faster treatment and improved productivity.
