GXW 650-2000 ColorForm KraussMaffei has redesigned its ColorForm system, which combines injection molding and reaction process machinery. Used to replace lacquering processes in automotive and consumer products, the system allows thermoplastic parts to be flow-coated directly in the mold cavity with a two-component polyurea or PU paint.

What's new? Various upgrades and a compact configuration, which were shown at the K show. KraussMaffei has reduced the machine's size by 20 percent, with all components for paint finishing completely integrated into the unit. The three-component mixing head is lighter, 30 percent smaller and now meters the dye directly during the injection process. Previously, the dye was added earlier in the process, which meant that it was present in the tank and hoses, resulting in time-consuming dye changes.

Benefits Cost savings, fast color changes and high-quality finishes. Users can save up to 30 percent of costs compared to conventional lacquering. Because the dye is directly metered, changing dyes takes just a few minutes. Also, the injection molding machine's MC6 control unit has a joint interface, allowing it to control both the press and the finishing process, simplifying operation for the user.
