SmartPower:  This compact servo-hydraulic injection press, which Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH & Co. introduced at Fakuma 2014, extends the firm's PowerSeries lineup. AT NPE, the new SmartPower will be molding a jeweler's loop for viewing miniature parts being molded on a Wittmann Battenfeld MicroPower press at injection mold maker Burteck's booth (S35013).

SMARTPOWER  This compact servo-hydraulic injection press, which Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH & Co. introduced at Fakuma 2014, extends the firm's PowerSeries lineup. AT NPE, the new SmartPower will be molding a jeweler's loop for viewing miniature parts being molded on a Wittmann Battenfeld MicroPower press at injection mold maker Burteck's booth (S35013).

WHAT'S NEW? It is being shown for the first time in North America and is the smallest footprint of PowerSeries machines. Despite its compactness, the SmartPower's design makes the injection unit and open drop area for parts removal easy to access, owing to the removal of the base plate. An added visual function to the Unilog B6P control — called SmartEdit — supplements the user programming system for faster machine setting for complex cycles. Available as of January, the line comes in clamping forces from 25 to 120 metric tons.

BENEFITS  Energy efficiency and faster setup. A central hydraulic system for the clamp combines with a servo-hydraulic injection drive for economical energy use. Servo drive braking energy is captured and reused, made possible by the same amplifier system featured on the company's all-electric EcoPower press.
