The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) announced that NPE2021 — scheduled to take place May 17-21 in Orlando, Fla. — will include a digital component to accommodate people who are unable to travel to attend the in-person event.

The association also has launched a campaign to communicate the health and safety measures it will implement at the show to reduce the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus.

“The health and welfare of all NPE participants is, of course, our top priority,” PLASTICS said in a statement on its website. “We have been closely monitoring the situation, including all guidance from governmental health agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as information from the State of Florida and the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), and will take into consideration all current health guidelines necessary to create a safe and healthy environment for our show.”

If the event is canceled due to pandemic restrictions, “our intention is to do right by our exhibiting companies — exactly what that might look like will depend on our ability to collect on our insurance claim, should we be unable to hold the live event,” PLASTICS said.

The trade show floor is 91 percent sold out, PLASTICS reported. For more information on the show and guidelines pertaining to COVID-19, visit https://npe.org/planning-resources/.
