VEL Profile Die 3D Compuplast International has added a new feature to its Virtual Extrusion Laboratory (VEL) simulation software. Users take a photo of an extruded profile sample using a mobile phone camera and the Profile Digitizer (ProDig) feature measures the sample and compares it to the required final shape. ProDig is included in the upgraded Profile Die 3D module of the VEL suite of software, which lets users perform simulations on virtual versions of their equipment.
What's new? Version 6.10 of the VEL Profile Die 3D module, which includes the ProDig feature. Workflow has been improved with fewer clicks needed, and overall, the software is easier to use.
Benefits Faster and more efficient die optimization. The Profile Die 3D module can analyze and optimize 2-D cross sections and 3-D flow fields. The ProDig feature can help determine how a die needs to be modified to correct for any discrepancies, and can be used as an ongoing quality control tool by creating a digital recording of the profile.
