Precision Roll Grinders founder Maniatty dies
George Speros Maniatty, the founder of Precision Roll Grinders Inc. (PRG), died peacefully at his home on Feb. 7. He was 84.
Maniatty started up PRG, an Allentown, Pa., supplier of large roll and cylindrical shaft grinding services, in 1969. He served as its president until 2002, then served on its board of directors for the next 20 years until retiring earlier this year. He was born in Barre, Vt., graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and worked for Procter & Gamble prior to founding PRG.
Maniatty’s leadership set a standard at PRG that developed the company’s reputation for technical expertise and service. A memorial service is planned for February 19 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Trexlertown, Pa.
