Key Highlights

  • The nine-layer flat film Pilot Line features a 23.6-inch chill roll, hydraulic smoothing and optional embossing capabilities, with speeds up to 2,152 ft/min.
  • The medical coextrusion line produces high-precision, multi-lumen medical tubes with integrated water bath, vacuum calibration and easy-to-clean extruders designed for hygienic standards.
  • The Polytest Coficos 200 optical film inspection line detects defects like gel particles and black spots, with future versions supporting wider film widths up to 15.7 inches.
  • All lines are designed for flexibility, with adjustable roll positions, single-person operation, and compatibility with blown or flat film processes.

Collin Lab & Pilot Solutions ran three new lines at K 2025, a nine-layer coextrusion flat film line, a three-segment coextrusion medical tube line and an optical film inspection line.

The German manufacturer specializes in laboratory, pilot and production lines.

The nine-layer flat film Pilot Line included a 23.6-inch chill roll with a hydraulic smoothing roll and nine-layer feed block with selector plug. The line also included a thickness measuring instrument, an edge-cutting system with standalone edge-strip winder and two winders.

An optional gravure roll can be integrated for embossing the film.

The Pilot Line is available with three rolls for horizontal or vertical use, two rolls for cast film in different thicknesses, a teaching configuration and the Extruder P Professional for research and development.

Take-off speed is up to 1,076 feet per minute, but an available version increases that to 2,152 feet per minute. The roll position is adjustable in the horizontal and vertical direction. The machine can be operated by one person.

The Medical Line for tubes is a three-segment sequential coextrusion line. At the K show, it produced high-precision, multi-lumen plastic medical tubes. The line includes three extruders, a new sequential die, water bath with vacuum calibration and a new belt take-off unit with integrated cutting unit.

The Collin medical extruders are available with a compact geared motor or a high-torque motor. They are designed to meet hygienic medical standards and are easy to disable and clean, according to Collins.

The Polytest Line Coficos 200 demonstrated a new solution for optical film inspection.

The line consists of a single-screw extruder, chill roll and an inspection unit with camera. It can detect optical errors such as gel particles, black spots or pigment agglomerates in colored films.

At K 2025, the line included a line camera and haze measuring device to look for haze and light dispersion in transparent film.

The line is designed for film width of 7.9 inches, but Collin said it will be available in a 15.7-inch version later.

The company said the inspection system works on blown or flat film lines and the design is flexible and can be adapted to various spaces.
