Centro-Freeze 2 cools film bubbles

Aug. 7, 2025
The secondary unit from Kdesign is more compact and increases throughput.

Centro-Freeze Particularly suited for hot environments, Kdesign’s secondary cooling unit for blown film is installed immediately before the lay flat. Kdesign is part of the Reifenhäuser Group and offers technologies in cooling, measurement and calibration.

What’s new? The Centro-Freeze 2, the successor to the Centro-Freeze, which was introduced to the U.S. market in 2023. The newest model, which Kdesign plans to show at the K Show, can cool the film bubble, with a maximum temperature of up to 54 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s appropriate for new and existing blown film lines from all manufacturers.

Benefits Better cooling capacity and improved energy efficiency, compared with the original Centro-Freeze. The new system can handle throughputs of as much as 25 percent more, and it’s much more compact, making it easier to squeeze into existing and new blown film lines in a particularly space-saving configuration. It features new, integrated roller guide elements that replace the traditional support cage and simplify integration into systems with limited height below the flattening section. Using the system, manufacturers can reduce or even completely avoid the use of anti-block additives, and they avoid production process problems associated with blocking, such as having the film webs stick together when they are cut before the two winding points.
