Bekum will retain key ProTec employees.

Extrusion blow molding machine manufacturer Bekum Maschinenfabriken GmbH, Berlin, announced it has acquired ProTec Polymer Processing GmbH’s pultrusion business unit, which was in insolvency.

Bekum said it sees the diversification as an investment in the future market for pultrusion, which has applications for making lightweight components in the automotive and electromobility sectors.

Bekum was able to retain both the previous technical managing director of ProTec as well as experienced design, sales and service employees. The assembly of new pultrusion lines is integrated at the Bekum site in Traismauer, Austria.

The company will offer complete production lines including an 8-strand LFT lab line, and 32-strand and 64-strand LFT production lines. It also plans to develop LFT lines for applications in UD tapes and continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic profiles.
