iCut/20-90/OL Baruffaldi first introduced the iCut for inline cutting of pipe and profiles at K 2019. The iCut replaces a traditional planetary blade with a heated blade that circles the piece as it cuts. Operators enter the resin type and thickness of the piece, and the iCut’s software determines the optimal heat, the blade insertion depth and its motion, which is controlled by servomotors. It works with smooth or corrugated PVC, PE and PP pipe, as well as profile geometries such as ovals, ellipses, rectangles and irregular shapes. Baruffaldi produces downstream equipment for pipe production under its Primac brand.
What’s new? The iCut/20-90/OL, an offline version of the iCut. Developed in late 2021, this new version features an automatic vertical feed-in table for 16.4-foot-long sections of pipe to be cut offline.
Benefits Faster, more precise cuts. The upgraded iCut can cut a pipe with an outer diameter of 20.1mm and a wall thickness of 3.1mm into lengths as short as 16mm, while maintaining a cut tolerance of plus or minus 0.25mm. Its quick-action cutting process leaves a high-quality surface without burrs or swarf, which eliminates dust production. Its cutting unit requires fewer moving components than traditional designs, which, in turn, decreases maintenance requirements.
