Enrique “Ricky” Torres, a 20-year employee of Processing Technologies International (PTi), died May 17 in Chicago. He was 74.
Torres was born in La Palma, Mexico, on February 12, 1947, to parents Bernardo and Maria Guadalupe Torres. He was a processing engineer technical specialist with PTi, which supplies sheet extrusion systems, and had a 40-year career in the plastics industry. Before joining Aurora, Ill.-based PTi, he had been a plant manager, with hands-on experience and a deep understanding of extrusion equipment and related processes. His colleagues respected him for his knowledge, his love of the industry and his enthusiasm for teaching others.
Torres was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva, and is survived by his two children and three grandchildren.
