BKG BlueFlow The large melt pumps in Nordson’s BKG BlueFlow line are appropriate for film, sheet, pipe, profile, fiber, compounding, recycling, polymerization and hot-melt applications. They come in a wide range of pumping capacities, providing throughputs up to 26,455 pounds per hour. The pumps can handle temperatures as high as 626 degrees Fahrenheit.

What’s new? The design. After acquiring the melt pump businesses of Kreyenborg GmbH and Xaloy Corp., Nordson harmonized the design of the various small pumps from the separate companies; it now has completed its harmonization of the high-capacity pump designs, expanding the portfolio of large units to five sizes. With capacities ranging from 1,164 to 4,900 cubic centimeters per revolution, the newly optimized pumps are designed to maintain constant pressure and adapt to process variations. The company also has rheologically optimized the melt pumps’ core components. The pumps also are equipped with a new, multilayer heating arrangement that enhances the processing of temperature- and shear-sensitive polymers.

Benefits Increased output, enhanced end-product quality and simplified pump selection for customers. The various improvements reduce the total cost of ownership, compared to the company’s previous large pumps. A 10 percent increase in the heat-exchange area saves energy by reducing the heating requirements for the fluid-heated pumps. Additionally, the various improvements speed up installation, simplify maintenance and streamline spare parts selection.
