Crosshead reduces scrap during hose production

Davis-Standard's Model 4000AG features closed-loop, stepper-driven, automatic control of tube concentricity and wall thickness.

Model 4000AG Davis-Standard’s latest crosshead is designed for manufacturing elastomer hose.

What’s new? The Model 4000AG crosshead and its closed-loop, stepper-driven, automatic control of tube concentricity and wall thickness. To change concentricity, operators use a joystick instead of wrenches. Many of the company’s existing Model 2000 and Model 3000 crossheads can be retrofitted to incorporate the Model 4000AG’s automated design features.

Benefits Processing efficiency and scrap reduction. The crosshead is easy to operate and produces hose that is more uniform. Davis-Standard designed the crosshead to minimize operator involvement and the use of hand tools, which improve workplace safety. Its fixed die eliminates the need to loosen or tighten bolts for fine-tuning. Additionally, because wall thickness adjustments are stepper-driven, intrusive thickness measurement devices are not needed.
