Feddem has extended its FED MTS extruder line.

FED 82 MTS Feddem has extended its FED MTS extruder line, which has screw diameters as small as 26mm, with this machine with an 82mm screw diameter. Built for producing large runs of engineering resins, the new co- rotating twin-screw extruder can be configured for a wide range of compounding tasks. Optional accessories include a process extension and custom-made side feeder and side vacuum degassing unit. The machine can handle throughputs up to about 4 tons an hour.

What's new? The size, a new extruder head and high-performance gearbox with a drive power of about 800 kilowatts and torque density of 16 newton meters per cubic centimeter.

Benefits The production of high-quality compounds, even when using polymers that are difficult to process. The machine has screws without kneading blocks, which can generate temperature peaks that can damage the polymer. This design ensures the gentle processing of engineering plastics. The company says the machine performs well even with highly reinforced compounds with up to 50 percent glass-fiber content.
