ZSE-18 Leistritz Extrusion is targeting medical and pharmaceutical markets with this 18mm, co-rotating, intermeshing, twin-screw extruder. The extruder features a stainless steel base frame, modular stainless steel barrels with a tie-rod assembly system for quick-change capability and segmented stainless steel screws assembled on high-torque, splined shafts. The machine also has a vacuum system with a dry, rotary-vane 1-horsepower vacuum pump, and an Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller/human machine interface with flash-drive download. Leistritz is exhibiting the ZSE-18 at NPE (Booth W6571).

What's new? The brushless AC servomotor. Quieter than standard AC motors, it is sealed against water spray and dust and has 1000-1 turndown ratio with 0.01 speed accuracy.

Benefits Speedy changeovers and maintenance. The quick-clamp assembly mates the process section to the gearbox for accelerated changeover while quick connections for electricity and plumbing facilitate fast maintenance.
