KraussMaffei system monitors color during compounding

ColorAdjust combines a color-measuring device with spectrophotometer technology with a machine control for precise control over even minor deviations.

ColorAdjust KraussMaffei’s fully automatic color-correction process is designed for contactless monitoring of color variations during compounding.

What’s new? The system, which combines a color-measuring device with spectrophotometer technology with a machine control. The spectrophotometer determines the color of the cooled reclaimed pellets in the vibration chute and communicates that information with the machine control, which adjusts the color metering unit appropriately. At the K Show, the system operated while a twin-screw extruder compounded shredded medical caps into a fiber-reinforced, color-precise recyclate.

Benefits Precise, reproducible colors, with the ability to compensate for even minor deviations. It is especially useful when handling recyclate or applications that require fast color changes. When ColorAdjust identifies a problem, it automatically adjusts the color setpoint. The system comes equipped with four metering devices, each containing a different color, and it can be expanded to six colors to flexibly cover the entire color spectrum that the human eye can distinguish.
