Compeo Buss’ series of modular, twin-screw compounders have screw diameters ranging from 55mm to 176mm. With mixing and kneading elements featuring two to six rows of flights, the machines can handle temperatures up to 752 degrees Fahrenheit and achieve throughputs ranging from about 88 pounds per hour to more than 29,000 pounds per hour, depending on the model and material.
What’s new? Access to the new SenseHub service, which provides condition-based monitoring. Sensors collect service data, as well as data from vibrations, to glean information about the condition of the manufacturing system at critical points on equipment such as kneaders, discharge and dosing units, pelletizers, heaters and coolers. The service covers externally sourced peripheral units, but so far is accessible only to users of Buss’ Compeo-series machines. Eventually, the company anticipates rolling it out to all its machines and all compounding processes; existing machines also can be retrofitted with access to the service.
Benefits Availability of data to plan maintenance work. The service allows Buss customers to monitor, evaluate and plan maintenance in consultation with Buss. In addition, Buss plans to expand the SenseHub service to the collection of sensor data for the evaluation of the machine health, ensuring maximized production uptime.
