In Memory: Don Starkey, Sr.

Progressive Components, Wauconda, Ill., has announced that Don Starkey Sr. died on Feb. 20 at the age of 84. He began his career as a mold maker and founded both Chicago-based Midway Mold and D&L Inc., an independent sales firm representing several mold makers. Starkey's sons, Don Jr. and Glenn, purchased D&L in 1990 and renamed it Progressive Components. Starkey Sr. retired at that time, although he took a position with the American Mold Builders Association with a salary of $1 per year, organizing trade shows to promote American mold building.
