Baldwin Technology buys Air Motion Systems

The ultraviolet (UV) and LED curing industry is expected to post rapid growth numbers over the next few years, and two companies have joined forces to better position themselves to take advantage of the opportunity. St. Louis-based Baldwin Technology Co. Inc. acquired River Falls, Wis.-based Air Motion Systems Inc. (AMS) and will rebrand the company as AMS Spectral UV.

Both are major players in the global UV LED marketplace, which some industry analysts project will grow to more than $1 billion within the next five years. Baldwin is part of the $2 billion Barry-Wehmiller family of companies and specializes in highly reactive UV, UV LED and infrared drying systems; AMS Spectral UV is a leader in LED curing in sheet-fed offset printing and flexible packaging and has an installed base that's almost 10 times larger than its nearest competitor.
