Engel Holding GmbH, Schwertberg, Austria, said continued strong demand for its injection molding machines in China led it to invest more than $9 million to expand its Shanghai factory. Asia accounts for about 25 percent of Engel's worldwide sales.
The Shanghai plant was doubles in size in 2012. The current expansion includes another heavy duty machining center to manufacture platens. The machining center is expected to be ready for production in mid-2017.
