Wittmann Battenfeld Inc. supplies cell to university

April 29, 2016

Wittmann Battenfeld Inc., Torrington, Conn., has supplied a new injection molding work cell to the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, for its Plastics Engineering Lab.

The work cell includes an all-electric EcoPower molding press, a W818 robot with a telescopic vertical arm, an indexing conveyor and a Tempro Plus D temperature control unit. The cell uses Wittmann 4.0, Wittmann's Industry 4.0 tool that provides connectivity and communication between all systems.

The lab already had two machines from Wittmann Battenfeld. The cell replaces one of those machines, which was an older model that the company had supplied in the 1990s. The new cell is part of an overall upgrade of the lab, which included new flooring and overhead lighting.
