Wittmann Battenfeld readies for US growth

Oct. 20, 2015

In an effort to increase its manufacturing capabilities, Wittmann Battenfeld is preparing to expand  at its U.S. headquarters in Torrington, Conn.

In October, the company purchased a building adjacent to the headquarters and announced plans to undertake renovations, with move-in set for February. The new site will provide growth for the company's three divisions — materials handling and auxiliary equipment, automation and injection molding machinery.

In a press release, the company cites five reasons for purchasing the building, including increasing demand for its robots and materials-handling equipment, and the need to expand its injection molding machine capabilities. The new facility will house the materials-handling division, with 43,000 of its 50,000 square feet devoted to the production and storage of equipment.

With the materials-handling division moving into a new building, the company says it will be able to provide increased space for additional demonstration and test cells for its injection molding division. In conjunction with the company's purchase of the new facility, it is planning renovations at its current, 90,000-square-foot headquarters. It plans to add new equipment and machinery.
