Helmar Franz, 65, the chief strategy officer and executive director of Haitian International Holdings Ltd., Hong Kong, has retired.
Franz will continue to serve as a board member of Haitian International in the capacity of a non-executive director and as a strategic consultant to the companies of the Haitian group. His focus will continue to be on the Chinese and global markets.
Franz first joined Haitian as a VP. Known as "Professor" by friends and colleagues around the world, Franz, who grew up in East Germany, has worked in a number of countries, including Germany, Russia, Egypt and Iraq. In all, he has spent more than 40 years in the industry, beginning work in 1972 as a development engineer after graduating from college.
