Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH, Schwaig, Germany, has beefed up its manufacturing capacity, investing about $7.8 million in the opening of a factory in Ningbo, China.
The company says the space, which measures more than 290,000 square feet, will accommodate the annual production of 1,500 machines by its subsidiary, Demag Plastics Group, which had previously operated another factory in the city.
Demag Plastics Group has been manufacturing injection molding machines for the Asian market since 1998. Over 17 years, the company has delivered almost 10,000 machines to more than 1,000 customers across Asia. Its new factory, which employs almost 200 people, provides space for production, as well as offices and logistics facilities. The company will produce Systec C hydraulic injection molding machines with clamping forces from 56 to 1,124 tons.
