Kolcor Technologies LLC, Agawam, Mass., has received patent approval for a seal used on its hydraulic and manual screen changers, about three years after the device first entered the market.
The device, which prevents material leaks at pressure and temperature conditions of up to 10,000 pounds per square inch and 650 degrees Fahrenheit, relies on springs for immediate seal protection. According to company President Chris Kowal, competing devices work only at specific temperatures. He says that once the Kolcor screen changer is running at operating temperature, the polymer pressure increases the seal force, creating true leak-free processing.
Kolcor specializes in design, sales and service of screen changers, all of which are handled out of Kolcor's location in Massachusetts.
