A. Roger Guillemette, the founder and former CEO of Guill Tool & Engineering Co. Inc., West Warwick, R.I., died June 5 at the age of 81.
Guillemette founded Guill Tool & Engineering in 1962 as a job shop supplying tips, dies, crossheads and replacement parts to the wire, cable, plastics and rubber industries in New England. Since then, the company has grown into a global extrusion tooling manufacturer.
Guillemette was active as an advocate for U.S. manufacturing and science, technology and math education.
A longtime member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and Wire Association International Inc., he was a president of National Tooling and Machining Association—Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts Chapter.
