PCT, PCS partner to sell hot-runner components

Two companies that provide services to molding companies have teamed up to distribute aftermarket hot-runner components in a deal they say will lower costs and turnaround times for key parts such as tips, nozzles and housings.
Polymer Cleaning Technology Inc. (PCT), Hillsborough, N.J., has named PCS Co., Fraser, Mich., the exclusive distributor of its array of components, including heaters, thermocouples, insulators, gate inserts and valve pins. Under the agreement, PCS will also market PCT's manifold and component maintenance services.
Len Harold, VP of sales and marketing for PCS, which manufactures and distributes molding supplies and hot-runner products, says the companies can sell spare parts at a cost of about 20 percent less than the original manufacturers of the equipment.
PCT began building its inventory of spare parts as a way to support customers of its hot-runner maintenance, cleaning and refurbishment services. The company has many components in stock and relies on independent partners for others. It can even redesign old parts or reverse-engineer obsolete parts, says sales manager Scott Bents. Most parts can be shipped within two weeks.
