Robot manufacturer Yushin America Inc., Cranston, R.I., has begun a $2 million expansion of its warehouse and manufacturing space. The project will allow the company to double the number of robots its produces each month from about 30 to about 60 by about 2020.

While the expansion is expected to be finished in the next three years, plans call for manufacturing capacity to grow over the next five years, said Michael Greenhalgh, director of operations. During that time, the company, which employs 74 people, plans to add 10 to 20 positions. The facility, which currently has about 29,100 square feet of warehousing and manufacturing space, will have more than 51,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space when the project is complete.

A manufacturer of custom robots, Yushin America serves a number of industries, with a special focus on plastics injection molding machines. It is the largest subsidiary of Yushin Precision Equipment Co. Ltd., Kyoto, Japan.
