In a sign that the Eastern and Central European injection molding market remains strong, German press maker Arburg GmbH + Co. KG, Lossburg, has expanded its tech center in the Czech Republic.
The expansion increased space at the Brno facility by about 60 percent. There is now dedicated space for Arburg's Freeformer additive manufacturing equipment and an automation area.
Managing partner Michael Hehl said at the opening that automation systems demand is growing at 10-15 percent a year.
The additional space allows Arburg to install, test and optimize three completed automated production cells at one time.
Total cost of the expansion was $1.1 million.
Arburg said in a press release that five additional employees will be added to the 34 already assigned to the tech center.
