Engel Austria GmbH, Schwertburg, Austria, has moved to take advantage of China's growing demand for automation equipment by establishing an automation center at its plant near Shanghai.
Gero Willmeroth, sales and service president at Engel Machinery (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., said five engineers are now working at the Shanghai Automation Center.
He said demand for automation is increasing in Asia because of higher labor costs and increasing demands for precision.
Engel has 320 employees in China.
