Frimo enhances strategy via joint venture

Feb. 19, 2015

Frimo Group GmbH, Lotte, Germany, has entered into a joint venture with Covelo Machine & Tool Trade Co. (CMTT), Covelo, Calif., on the development, production and service of mixing heads for polyurethane processing.

Frimo and CMTT now are able to pool their accumulated expertise and swiftly make leaps forward to accelerate product development, said Hans-Günter Bayer, Frimo CEO.

Frimo has been producing high-pressure metering machines and mixing heads, leading to further market success, primarily in the fields of soft and semi-rigid foam applications in the PU equipment industry, according to the company.

Its mixing heads are equipped with innovative orifice and needle systems, recirculation grooves, optimal injection angles and the latest material matching with surface treatments to ensure low-friction operation.

CMTT constructs and produces high-pressure mixing heads. That company's CEO, Roland Höhne, has been at the center of virtually all new developments and refinements made to mixing head technologies in the global market, including recirculation, transfer and nozzle technologies, according to the two companies.

The venture with Frimo will allow CMTT to leverage Frimo's global sales organization. Frimo manufactures its mixing heads in Wixom, Mich., and Asia. The deal gives Frimo a major step forward in its goal to establish a local network of production and service facilities, according to Brent Gawne, Frimo's head of North American PU business.
