Sipa acquires Automa's PET bottle business

Dec. 31, 2014

Sipa SpA, Vittorio Veneto, Italy, has acquired the injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) assets of Automa S.p.A. of Bologna, Italy.

The strategic move allows Sipa to extend its single-stage ISBM systems and Sipa also now has strengthened its position in the market for equipment producing specialty products, including containers for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, personal care products and spirits.

Officials said in a press release that Automa's ISBM machines are designed for production of containers in smaller lots than Sipa's existing units, and features of Automa's machines allow for quick change overs among different product configurations. Automa machines have compact lay outs and high energy efficiency. The three other areas in which Sipa and Automa will benefit is in sharing synergies in packaging development, research and development, and technical support.
