The Annual Blow Molding Conference returns Oct. 5–7 at the Westin Chicago North Shore in Wheeling, Ill., with a powerful theme: “Beyond the Blow Molder.” This year’s program is designed to look past the machine and into the ideas, people, processes, materials, technologies and market forces that are shaping the future of blow molding.

Manley Feinberg talks about leadership

This year’s conference will feature guest speaker Manley Feinberg, an international keynote speaker, bestselling author, leadership development expert and accomplished mountain climber.

Known for bringing high-energy stories and practical leadership lessons to the stage, Feinberg will challenge attendees to reach higher, lead with greater impact and build momentum in the face of change.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during a luncheon Oct. 6 at ABC. It is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions to the business, science and technical engineering aspects in the field of blow molding.

The awardee is selected by the Board of Directors from nominees sponsored by the members of SPE. The award reflects a consideration of the candidate’s professional record inside and outside of the industry, and the continuing influence of the candidate’s work. The awardee is presented with an engraved plaque and a donation in the candidate’s name is made to the Grant Fund.

This year's nominees are:

Mridula “Babli” Kapur, fellow, Dow Chemical. She is known for her work in bimodal resin technology for blow molding.

Dan Weissman, owner, DW & Associates LLC. He has played key roles in the adoption of PET as the preferred material for bottles, as well as recycling and container design.

Jon Meckley (posthumous), longtime Plastics Engineering Technology faculty member and department chair at Penn State Behrend.

Blow Molded Parts Competition

The annual Lewis E. Ferguson Blow Molded Parts Competition winner will be announced during ABC. Apply at blowmoldingdivision.org/2024-parts-competition-overview. The entry deadline is Aug. 15 with a shipment deadline of Aug. 29.
